“Coronation Charles also followed in Amsterdam church: “It is such an important moment”
“The English Christ Church on the Groenburgwal in the city center opened its doors today especially for the coronation of King Charles III. In the church, those interested could watch the two-hour coronation-in ceremony on a large screen.
It was an important event for Christ Church Amsterdam. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime wonderful thing,” said Corinne de Klerk of Christ Church. “Moreover, the coronation of the king is not only something for the world, but also for the church. He has officially become the leader of the English church, and we are a Church of England here in Amsterdam.”
The approximately fifty visitors enjoyed the coronation of British monarch. “It was beautiful in all its symbolism,” said one of them. “It hit me unexpectedly. It is such an important moment after seventy years.”
A New Zealander who attended said he felt “loyal” by watching the coronation. “I’ve always had a king or queen. It was a fantastic ceremony full of pomp and circumstance. What a tradition it is.”
